There
are many things about living in Iowa that I enjoy, but none more so than
the Iowa outdoors. From the time I was a youth, I have spent most of my
life outdoors and along the way have picked up several hobbies including
hunting, fishing and trapping. If you were to visit my house today I’d
take you out back where you’d see my hunting dogs anxious to get in some
work prior to the upcoming season. You might notice the set of locked
horns in my barn I found last winter from two monster Iowa bucks that
paid the ultimate price while fighting during last year’s rut only to
end up frozen in the Chariton River. Behind my duck boat you’d see a
wall full of traps that I’ve collected or inherited over the past 20
years or so surrounded by just as many sheds. I live in the country so
it’s easy for me to shoot in my bow and guns prior to each season
allowing my to be ready for the outdoor challenges I face each season.
Inside my home is decorated with outdoor décor including several buck
mounts taken over the past several years. My mom does incredible things
with feathers collected from the quail, pheasant and turkeys I have
harvested over the years. While I enjoy bow hunting the most, I also
enjoy taking deer with a hand gun and currently have the number 3 hand
gun deer killed in Iowa to date. When I’m not hunting or getting ready
to hunt or bass fishing I enjoy spending time with my family and
exposing them to the outdoors. I look forward to what challenges lie
ahead this year in Iowa and look forward to working with Rob and In Your
Backyard Iowa to bring the outdoors to you.
